Ok, I got good results before, so now I am going to ask for suggestions for books on #mathematics . Specifically good, introductory texts on:
* Linear algebra, because it's super useful, * Set theory and discrete #math , because it might actually run the universe, * Number theory, because it's *cool*.
@icefox I think you should read some philosophy of math because the notion that math runs the universe (rather than [necessarily] running our descriptions of the universe) is a fairly pernicious one
I've yet to see any really good evidence that the universe runs on anything *besides* math, given how complete those descriptions can get, but I'm interested in learning more!
@martensitingale Sure! Have any suggestions?
